"It looks like our turkey is already plumping after just a few minutes inside the Roastmaster 3000.  This model should be in stores in time for your Christmas festivities next month.  In the meantime.....wow....it's really getting warm in here."

"I'd almost think I was getting hot flashes, but I'm not that old yet - am I right ladies?  Hey, no comments from the staff Jake!"

"Honestly, I might be coming down with something, maybe I just need some more water - but I'll be good through the rest of the show."

0pik-0ort - Cooking With Trina 2

"And we're back from our short commercial break - as always, our top sponsor here at "Cooking with Trina" is our network TR-I TV - and their parent company TransRepo Industries."

"Would you believe it...I completely forgot to start the oven before our little break.  As I said before, this is a slightly smaller turkey than we would normally use, so we won't need more than 30 minutes or so in the oven...particularly since we're fortunate to be able to demonstrate a brand new RoastMaster 3000 courtesy of TransRepo Industries.  With this baby, we're able to cook a lot more in a fraction of the time it would normally take."

"Excuse me while I take another drink of water - I must say - I'm feeling positively parched.  I think that basting sauce was a little saltier than I expected - and it certainly feels a little drier in here than normal...still, it's always best to stay well hydrated while in a hot kitchen."

Solios - New Comic!

Ok...normally I do these at the end of the year (or start of the new year) - and there will be one again this year - but for a friend, I definitely owe a big push for this right now.

If you've been following Among The Chosen over the years - and if you haven't, you owe it to yourself to check it out - you'll be very happy to see that the first hard copy collection is now available in print.

This is a truly epic sf comic with some amazing ideas, great concepts, beautiful art, smart writing and unique themes.  It's been running for well over 10 years now - and there's plenty more to go.  Moreover - picking up this book will help support another great artist!  Check out a copy today!

---------------------

Side note...I'm experimenting with "scheduled posting" this week due to possible travel issues....hopefully posts will show up on time, but if not...we'll figure it out after the fact.

Thanks.  Have a great Thanksgiving week!

0pik-0ort - Cooking With Trina 1

"Hi and welcome to this week's special episode of "Cooking with Trina" here on TR-I TV.  I'm your host Trina Kowalski and this is our annual Thanksgiving holiday prep episode."

"We've got a number of special dishes to demonstrate this hour, but we'll begin with everyone's favorite - the roast turkey - not least because it takes the longest to prepare.  For a special treat this year, we're demonstrating a new product by our sponsor TransRepo Industries.  As you can see, our sample turkey is considerably smaller than I would normally consider appropriate for serving a gathering of 8 to 10 adults, but as part of our special, we have a new basting recipe to sample.  Not only is this mixture expected to enhance the flavor significantly, but I've been informed that it should actually have some moisturizing qualities that may actually cause the turkey to swell a little during the cooking process."

"I should emphasize at this point that our new recipe will not be available in time for the holiday season this year, but is expected to be on store shelves by this time next year.  In the meantime, those of you at home can follow along as our cooking procedures should have no other differences in cook time or temperature for a similarly sized bird."

"And there, as you can see, I've applied a generous basting over the entire turkey in the pan - the leftover juices will collect in the bottom of the pan where they can be absorbed during the cooking process.  Hmmm, that is a nice flavor - maybe a little saltier than I would normally use, but given the amount of liquid and the generally bland nature of turkey meat, I think it will have the desired effect."

"We'll just set the timer and begin on the mashed potatoes."

Remembrances II

In recognition of Veterans Day / Remembrance Day / Armistice Day, cluedog has drawn a beautiful piece featuring Milton Caniff's own Miss Lace

I'd say it's a fitting tribute given Caniff's support for the troops and our ongoing themed work "South Pacific Follies."

Thanks.

Remembrances

So, once again an idea that came to me far too late...but worth putting out for folks who are interested.

As [I certainly hope] you're aware, 11 November is Veterans Day (and Remembrance Day or Armistice Day for most of our allies).

Honestly...I don't have a lot going on this year (better planning in advance would have helped).  Next year I should really try and make it up to DC or something for one of the ceremonies.  That said, I would like to try and work out some sort of special post on the 11th.  No idea how well it will work out - but if you have any inclination to put any sort of remembrance artwork, I would love to do a special post here on the blog (whether or not it's been posted elsewhere before).

Not a paying project with this timeline, and not intended to cover any TF/TG or process themes - just a simple post honoring those who have gone before.

Thanks

Pink-Diapers - Which Witch?

One last little Halloween commission from a favorite artist - Pink-Diapers.  Looks like this gal might have tried out some candy that didn't quite agree with her....or rather, it agreed with her in a different way than she expected.  Wonder what flavor it was?

Three guesses where she went trick or treating...and the first two don't count.

Darkoshen - Political Civility 1

Weird....somehow I only manage to get these things aligned during the mid-terms.

I voted (by mail) - out of state...although my county seems to do all their voting that way.  That said....I'm not going to get into my politics on this site.  I'd rather just hit all sides in the art...I don't get to do enough elephant or donkey-girls as it is ;p

Thanks Darkoshen...part 2 tomorrow!  We'll see who comes out on top.

Rellen - Beyond Another Rainbow

Apologies for a belated Halloween post - some things work out, some don't.  That said, I'm very happy with the way this one turned out.  Admittedly, I don't normally like to work with established characters, but the variations on these costumes (references) just seemed like too good of a thing to waste for once.  I might try something like this again.  It did turn out as a nice first project with Rellen.

Caption Challenge Results!

Wow!  Some stiff competition.  Glad I slept on it.

The concepts are solid in all of them but for captions, it's also a matter of meshing the images and ideas with clear text.

I think I'm going to have to give the Single Caption and Sequence Caption prizes to TG-Spain! Excellent selection of images all around and very legible captions.  The progress of related costumes was an excellent selection.

Single Caption:

 Sequence Caption:

Now, obviously I'm a sucker for poodle-girls, but I really like the way TheUnthinker worked in the combination of mental and physical changes in The Best Fur in Town.  It's a little harder to read with the uniform text, but it still works

Thanks again for all the participation.  I love seeing themed captions....not sure yet if I'll be running more direct contests in the future or just offering commissions, but feel free to drop me a note if you have suggestions.
