Should be SP for Shore Patrol rather than MP for military police. SP is for Navy MP for Army. Gets ugly when you get Army and Navy together in one place.
Trust me, I'm very cognizant of the differences, but I also know that I've served as "Shore Patrol" while in the Army as well - it all depends on the time and circumstances - and I don't think it was much different in WWII either. Regardless...some heads are going to get broken.
