Okayokayokok - Cutting Costs

It can be really tough to run a small business....especially a restaurant.  The stats say something like 80% of small businesses will fail in their first year of operation...and I think the numbers are even worse for restaurants.  The following piece by Okayokayokok is one I've wanted to illustrate for a long time. 

Sometimes you might just get lucky...one wish is all it could take to turn things around.

Pink-Diapers - New Gift Art

Just posted a new piece on the Gift Art page that Pink-Diapers was kind enough to work on for me - a themed cover image for the recent Wishing Stones project.

Pink-Diapers - Wishing Stones

First off, apologies for the lack of new content lately.  Still a number of large projects chugging along, but some of the smaller ones have taken a little longer than expected to see results.  That said, we do expect to have new stuff throughout the year.

This little piece by Pink-Diapers is a concept I've been wanting to adapt for quite a while - a riff on some of those old narrative comic ads you may have seen in comic books back in the 70s and 80s (and earlier?).  I wound up needing to extend it a little to cover what I wanted to see, but the concept may be familiar.

And the final visual of one character...that one's been bouncing around in my head for who knows how long....

The First Caption Challenge - Results!

Well, I've got to say, this first caption contest has produced some really interesting entries. 

It's been a difficult choice for some of the categories....but these ones just wowed me.

- Best single caption - Any single caption using a one-character pic. ($25)

Really like the use of this pic and the ending concept.  TG-Spain

- Best group caption - Any single caption using a pic with one or more characters. ($25)

Catfish

- Best caption sequence - Any set of two or more captions following a sequence/storyline (can use single or multiple character pics - no restrictions on which pictures from reference selection are used) ($50)

Without a doubt....Had to be the Brooke sequence by Furco.

- Best original design and caption - A little different - this category is looking for the really weird/unique/far-out concepts - I will accept minor photo-editing as well as potentially use of pics not included in my reference file - but must be approved on a case-by-case basis.  Must still conform to all other contest rules. ($35)

Caption Challenge Entry - Furco

Wow!  Just received a veritable slew of caption contest entries by fur-caption fan furco.

These ones cover pretty much all the categories.  So we'll start with the individual caps.

Caption Challenge Entry - Catfish

For our first entries in this Caption Challenge, we have two single pic entries by Catfish.  A very nice start I've got to say.

Powerman2000 - Upgraded Uniforms

A sweet little piece Powerman2000 whipped up for me this year.  Great beautification sequence.  Again, nothing particularly fancy, but it worked out beautifully - I've got a number of "Wishing Stone" themed sequences that I need to work on this year.  At least in this case, the wording worked out pretty smoothly.

Okayokayokok - Wishing Stones

Well this is really building on a concept I first introduced in Engineskye's new donation project A Day in the Life.  Arianna's Wishing Stones...Available only at La Debaucherie Magique.  Not a very original concept by any stretch of the imagination - either in design or execution, but it gives me an opportunity to work with designing some TFs around "carelessly worded" wishes.  And I had fun twisting my "usual"/"expected" changes just a bit more ;p

Looking for a slightly more "interesting" line than Wishmaster...oh if ever there was a concept ripe for truly unique transformation sequences on film...and so wasted (outside of a couple good scenes).

Anyhoo, I plan on using this for future commissions - it's a handy enough mcguffin for creating a sequence without needing a ton of backdrop/characterization if you're limited in the amount of space/pages you can give to a good sequence.

And what's more, I'm happy to present my first commission by Okayokayokok - an artist (with quite the handle) whose work I've enjoyed for quite a while now but have only just had the opportunity to work with directly.  I hope to be able to work with him on a number of projects in the future!
